This qualification is ideal for any Fitness Professional who has not got Nutrition embedded in their qualifications. Join our expert Nutrition Tutor Kelly McFie, who runs a successful online business and helps lots of people with their personal goals and will be explaining her strategies to help you set up a new offer to new and current clients.

Introduction:
This qualification will enable learners to develop their knowledge of healthy eating to analyse their client’s nutritional habits and to be able to offer healthy eating advice linked to their clients’ exercise and lifestyle goals. During the qualification learners will cover the following:
• How to access credible information about nutrition for exercise and health.
• The nutrients required to maintain health.
• How nutrients from food are used to fuel and aid recovery from physical activity.
• How to estimate daily energy and nutrient requirements for clients with different goals.
• The risks of poor nutritional and lifestyle practices.
• Skills to analyse clients’ dietary habits and identification of areas for improvement.

Entry Requirements:
• aA level 2 fitness instructing qualification as a minimum or equivalent
• There is an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading, and writing) involved and learners should have basic skills in communication pitched at level 2.

This will be delivered over 3 days in person to allow you plenty of time to do the work set to achieve the criteria.

1. Multiple Choice Exam (you may re-sit if you don’t attain the 75% pass rate at a cost of £40 per retake)
2. Worksheets in a portfolio provided
3. Consultation / setting SMART targets for a client
4. 7 Day Food Diary and Analysis
5. Educational Activity – Poster

Points 3, 4 and 5 make up a case study where you will be required to select an individual to work with on your course.

This qualification provides progression onto:

• Active IQ Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training. • Active IQ Level 3 Diploma in Exercise Referral.

Kelly McFie

Kelly McFie is a Certified Nutritionist, with over 20 years’ experience in the health and fitness industry and five years’ experience of working in NHS Health Improvement. She is extremely passionate about behaviour change, the psychology of health, delivering evidence-based nutrition interventions to a wide variety of clients, and debunking nutrition myths. Kelly is the Director of a successful online nutrition and fitness coaching business and has previously owned two private personal training gyms. She holds a First-Class honours degree, BSc (Hons) Exercise, Physical Activity & Health, and is qualified as a L3 Personal Trainer, L3 Pre & Post Natal Exercise, L2 Gym Instructor, L2 Aqua Instructor and L2 Exercise to Music, and L3 Education & Training. Kelly is delighted to be delivering the L3 Nutrition for Exercise & Health course for Trained Academy and cannot wait to share her knowledge and experience in the field.
